This could be costing you business |

Of course the main
target audience for your web site is PC users running Internet
Explorer on a Microsoft Windows platform.
For sure there are many more users visiting your web site
on a PC, but to be safe in the knowledge that you're not,
maybe turning visitors away, why not get a Mac owner you know
to have a look.
It is not often the case that sites play up on the Mac / Internet
Explorer platform but this is always worth checking.
The sample to the right shows a very
well known company's web site a while back on 28/12/04 (yes
we did email them and let them know) visited with the current
Mac OSX 10.37 and current Mac OSX Internet Explorer 5.23.

What about
the Mac browser 'Safari'
There are compatibility problems here
too on occasion. Both Microsoft and Apple constantly
review these cross-browser issues - the problems used
to be far worse!

Mac Web design
Tips
Font Trouble
Font display are is one of the biggest
causes for things to 'slip out' when displayed. The
screen fonts used on a PC are slightly larger (space-wise)
and therefore when placed in tables or layers they can
stretch these cells and cause designs to change and
sometimes create problems.
Table
Trouble
If your design is driving you mad and
wont display correctly on the PC give this a try..
Remove your table heights and widths, top align all
your cells (if you've chopped things up into complete
sections), if all looks well then convert the widths
to pixels (leave the height).
If, when you removed the widths it all went real bad,
start at the left and drag the table columns one by
one to the left, then convert widths to pixels. Another
tip is to have a graphic or a spacer covering the width
of your table, keeping things in order.
Sometimes extensive 'fiddling about' is required
